Instilling Eco-Consciousness Through Education: Insights from Dr. Manjula Pooja Shroff’s COP28 Session
Ahmedabad: Dr. Manjula Pooja Shroff, the MD & CEO of Kalorex Group renowned for its educational excellence, took the stage as a speaker at a session held during the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) in Dubai.
The Role of Education in Environmental Awareness
Addressing the audience at the “Green School for Every Child: Preparing Pupils for the Planet” session within the Greening Education Hub in the UAE, Dr. Shroff shared her perspectives on the crucial role of education in nurturing environmental awareness and sustainable practices among the youth.
During her presentation, Dr. Shroff highlighted the increasing environmental consciousness among today’s youth, driven by a recognition of the ecological challenges stemming from past neglect. She emphasized the imperative for businesses and startups to prioritize sustainability, aligning with a shift towards long-term benefits over short-term gains.
As part of Kalorex Group’s commitment to setting new standards in education, Dr. Shroff highlighted the integration of sustainability into the curriculum. This approach aims to cultivate critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and holistic learning experiences among students.
Dr. Shroff remarked, “As the new generation matures, so does their awareness of the repercussions of previous generations’ actions on our planet. It is crucial to guide them toward prioritizing sustainability, and resilience, and envisioning a more sustainable and prosperous future for all. We must see students not merely as learners, but as proactive champions of sustainability, instilling values that transcend classroom boundaries and equipping them with the knowledge and passion to contribute meaningfully to a sustainable future.”
